Brighton Beach - Coney Island

After writing my last post I realized that I was indeed missing the ocean, so I headed out to Brighton Beach last weekend.  I've been wanting to explore this Russian enclave ever since watching a certain episode of "Bored to Death" (yes, I'm easily influenced in this way).  I met up with a good friend who took me to a Ukrainian restaurant for lunch.  I thoroughly enjoyed the Russian being spoken and my amazing bowl of borscht.  I was indeed transported to another place & time!  I walked along the surf & made my way up to Coney Island.  I couldn't stop photographing the desolation & beauty of it all!  And even though I know Coney Island has been photographed by every photographer living in NY - I don't care - these are MY photos.
